Finally, a romantasy where the FMC feels like a real girl. 🙌
"Shield of Sparrows" was such a fun read—I absolutely loved it!
What made this book stand out for me was the FMC, Odessa. She was such a breath of fresh air. No magic, no secret assassin training, no Chosen One destiny—just a regular girl. And that’s what made her so relatable. The way the author explored her insecurities and growth felt so real, and I found myself cheering her on the entire time.
Ransom, the MMC, was just as compelling. Their relationship developed in such a natural, organic way—full of banter, tension, and those little moments that made me smile. And then there’s Evangeline. My heart! Having a child play such a central role in a romantasy was refreshing, and she added so much sweetness and heart to the story.
The world-building was solid, and I loved the focus on monsters—it felt new and different from so many other romantasies. The pacing kept me hooked, and I always wanted to turn just one more page. And that twist at the end? Completely blindsided me in the best way. Now I’m impatiently waiting for the next book because I *need* to know what happens next.
If you’re looking for a romantasy that’s heartfelt, refreshing, and fun—this is the one. So yes, I’ll be over here not-so-patiently stalking release dates for the sequel.
